Heddle, Shuttle, Warp and Weft
Many people have never seen a real loom, let alone woven fabric on one. During this 90 minute program, you will learn about the parts of a loom, see how the final woven design begins as a drawing, and be shown how a loom “gets dressed.” Then, you’ll try your hand at weaving on a 4-harness, 32-inch wide loom. This program includes a tour of the temporary exhibit Woven & Spun, and a take-homecraft suitable for children . There is a minimum of 5 participants; maximum of 20. This program is suitable for ages 6 to adult. Class Instructor: Leslie Bolin. Mrs. Bolin completed coursework in weaving and textile design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
